Design of low-temperature gas generating propellants with clean products of combustion is an urgent scientific and technical task. One of perspective ways to create such propellants is in using ingredients capable of self-sustained burning with formation of low-temperature gases. Such a component used in gas generating compositions for rather long time, is oxaldihydroxamic acid (dihydroxyglyoxime, DGGO). This unique compound has a high (comparable with HMX) oxidizer-fuel ratio and relatively low (~1300 K at pressure 10 MPa) calculated temperature of gaseous combustion products. Considering decreased enthalpies of formation (because of exothermic salt formation reactions), onium salts of oxaldihydroxamic acid are expected to have lower temperatures of combustion and, besides, better compositions of the combustion products (higher contents of nitrogen) in comparison with the acid itself. Therefore the purpose of the present work was synthesis and study of burning behavior of ammonium (A-DGGO), hydrazinium (H-DGGO) and hydroxylammonium (HA-DGGO) salts, as well as primary research of model gas generating compositions prepared on the base of the salts.
