Syngas and hydrogen are highly important energy carriers and chemical reagents of the 21st century widely used in industry. These gases can also supply different types of fuel cells. An important feature is that they have almost unlimited raw material source; nevertheless, currently, they are still obtained and recovered by energy-intensive procedures. A benefit of new hybrid membrane catalytic technology is a decrease in the total energy expenditure of the process upon combination, within a single device, of the reaction stage for syngas production occurring in the channels of catalytic converter with the ultrapure hydrogen recovery stage occurring in the palladium-containing membrane integrated into reaction volume. This considerably decreases dimensions of the setup and simplifies the equipment and also provides high-purity products at the reactor outlet.
