XMAP technology from LuminexTM was used for development of multiplex bead-based assay for simultaneous detection of RNA virus (influenza A virus), DNA virus (Adenovirus 6), Gram negative bacteria (Salmonella spp.) and toxin (cholera toxin B) as model organisms of biologically hazard components potentially present/or spreadable in the air. Since the influenza A virus nucleoprotein (NP) is an internal target, the destruction of viral particles is required to ensure their contact with primary antibodies. Ultrasound is one of the few sample preparations that can be used in the in vivo (flow through) bioaerosol surveillance systems as a method for cell lysis and inactivation effect on potential biohazard agents [Joyce E, 2011; Wu X., 2012]. It seems to be particularly useful for hidden targets (the internal viral NP INF A) or bacterial antigens release (LPS).
