We report on using the optical mechanical analogy to study the propagation of the electromagnetic wave in through the plasma layer surrounding the hypersonic object moving in dense gaseous medium. This analogy allows us to consider plasma sheath surrounding the object as a potential barrier and analyse the process of electromagnetic wave tunneling. The idea is to embed a dielectric layer as a «resonator» between the surface of the object and plasma sheath which is supposed to provide an effective tunneling regime. We discuss the peculiarities of optical mechanical analogy applicability and analyse the radio frequency wave tunnelling regime in detail. The cases of normal and oblique incidence of radiofrequency waves on the vehicle surface are studied. The analysis is applied for a problem of overcoming of the communication blackout during the hypersonic vehicle re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere
