Аннотация:Nepheline concentrate (so called tails) is a byproduct of apatite-nepheline ore enrichment process. Reserves of nepheline tails are stored in a tails stock on the Kola Peninsula, and come to hundreds of millions of tons. Production of aluminum-silicate flocculate-coagulant (ASFK) and its use in wastewater treatment is one of the promising directions of nepheline processing. The solution of ASFC shows a high efficiency in wastewater treatment due to its double action by coagulant (aluminum compounds) and flocculant (active silicic acid). However, the solution of ASFC has some disadvantages: liquid form, pH в€ј 1, and high transportation cost of delivery to the end-user. Solid forms of aluminum-silicate flocculate-coagulant (AKFKSLD) were obtained by spray drying process and ASFCDEHYDR by chemical dehydration. Quantitative, elemental and phase composition of samples was determined. The main active component of ASFCSLD is a mixture of potash alum and sodium alum (10% in Al2O3), and in case of ASFCDEHYDR - a mixture of alum and aluminum sulfate (16% Al2O3). Silica in solid forms of ASFC has negative zeta potential and extensive sorbing surface what leads to the increased efficiency in wastewater and water treatment. Trial coagulation treatment of Yauza river surface discharge and industrial wastewater drain from an engineering plant proved the increased efficiency of solid forms vs aluminum sulfate and potash/sodium alum in terms of turbidity, color, petroleum products and iron-containing compounds.
