Аннотация:Peculiarities of the focal mechanism of weak earthquakes (M < 4) in the central part of Garm
region, represented by the Peter I Ridge, are analyzed. To each mechanism is ascribed a
coefficient of similarity k to the general trend of the seismotectonic deformafion in Peter 1
Ridge. The spatial distribution of k is analyzed. The zones with low mean values of k and at
the same time with a high level of seismicity are interpreted as zones of increased macrofracturing of the Earth's crust. In these zones earthquakes with non-quadrant distribution of the signs of the first P-wave arrivals occur. This effect is interpreted as a manifestation of complicated shearing without rupture at the foci of such earthquakes.
