Аннотация:The seismotectonic deformation (STD) of the Garm region of the Tadzhik SSR is studied on the basis of 2250 determinations of the focal mechanisms of weak (M < 4) shallow earthquakes during the period 1964-1976. The tensor of the velocity of STD is represented, with an accuracy of up to a constant multiplier, as a product of the direction tensor, corresponding to the mean mechanism, and the sum of the seismic moments of the earthquakes. The time-stable deformation
cores, having dimensions of 20-30 km, are identified. The general pattern of STD of the region, is discussed and qualitative hypotheses on the reasons for this process, are put forward. A comparison between the vertical seismotectonic and tectonic motions, is made. The position of strong earthquakes in the background of STD, is analyzed.
