Аннотация:The paper is devoted to the history and prospects of gene therapy, a new area of biotechnology that holds great promise for the treatment genetic disorders, cancer and dangerous infections such as HIV and hepatitis B. A brief history of gene therapy is described. The paper discusses the main lines of research in this area as well as the mechanisms, approaches, and techniques employed by gene therapy, and the examples of the experimental and clinical use of genetic constructs. Another important research area closely associated with gene therapy is the use of computer modeling and simulation. The paper also touches upon the ethical concerns surrounding this field of biomedicine, including its affordability and accessibility for patients.
