Аннотация:The diagnosis and treatment of epileptic states are among the most important goals of neuropathology. Significant part of drug resistant epilepsy cases is associated with genetic abnormalities, and thus it is of use to study animal models with genetic predisposion to epilepsy (WAR, WAG/Rij, GEPR, GAERS, Krushinsky-Molodkina (KM). The goal of the present study was to investigate the seizure readiness in the CNS of KM strain rats using many-hour registration of the spontaneous EEG in order to discover the occurrence of spontaneous epileptiform discharges “spike-and-waves”. 5 male rats (5-6 months of age) from KM strain (highly prone to audiogenic epilepsy) were used. The EEG was recorded from frontal and sensorimotor cortical areas, hippocampus and inferior colliculli (which is the focus of audiogenic epilepsy). At least 6 hours of spontaneous EEG records were analyzed from each rat. Numerous spontaneous epileptiform spike and wave complexes were found in frontal and senso-motor areas recordings, while they were weak in inferior colliculli. The data exist that such discharges could be the result of prolonged acoustic stimulation, although in the present experiment the audiogenic seizures were induced in this group of experimental animals only rarely and the presence of epileptiform discharges could not be attributed to changes in forebrain excitability due to audiogenuc kindling phenomena.
