Аннотация:The chemical vapor deposition method was used to grow carbon thin film material consisting of lameled nanosized graphite crystallites and multiwall carbon nanotubes with predominant orientations of both species by their crystallographic plane corresponding to a graphite basal plane along a normal to the film surface. It was found that electron field emission from the nanostructured graphite-like films is initiated by applying the electric field with an average value of as low as 1.5 V/mu m. The emission current and site densities reached values of 100 mA/cm(2) and 10(7) 1/cm(2), respectively. We propose a model of energy band diagram for the nanostructured graphite-like materials, and a mechanism of electron field emission, which can be applied for an explanation of electron emission from a wide variety of carbon-related materials.
