Аннотация:The main purpose of this article is revealing the views and attitudes of students and representatives of the scientific - pedagogical cadres regarding the future of the country's technological development, their preferences in this area, and their readiness to adopt new technologies.
The peculiarity of the work is that two independent sociological surveys served as its information base. One survey concerned the students, and the second concerned university professors. This made it possible to reveal the generational differences of respondents' views.
Students and teachers have different strategies choosing the job or assessing the priority of new technologies. Choosing the area of employment young people made focus on the current situation. The "project of the future" is beyond their interests. Teachers are focused on the development of science, industry, education, although we revealed that the prestige of the profession of the university teacher is rather low.
Regarding the choice of priority technologies, it was revealed that there are no clear priorities among the respondents, since the state either has not the such priorities or could not bring them to the public. Both the elders and the youth react more likely to ideological schemes or to scattered random information from the media. As a result the respondents' do not understand the importance of certain technologies. The students appreciate the most the quality of life. Our results demonstrate that they did not take into account the example of the West in prioritizing of technologies. But students respond quickly to the demands of the labor market and the opportunities provided to them. So we can hope that they will be able also to adapt to the new conditions quickly.
Also in the paper the motives of respondent’s choice were analyzed and generational differences were revealed.
