Аннотация:Sharp apexes and narrow cross-sections of the needle-like crystallites provide unique combination of properties. Mass production
of the needle-like diamond crystallites is realized by thermal oxidation of textured polycrystalline films obtained by chemical
vapor deposition. Individual crystallites have shape of rectangular pyramids with length determined mostly by duration of the
film deposition process and apex angle determined by activation of the gas mixture and substrate temperature. Proposed
empirical models and computer simulations reveal mechanism of the diamond needles formation. Developed methodologies
allow manipulation of individual needles and assembling them with massive holders suitable for further application.
