Аннотация:The compound LaSrCuGaO5 of brownmillerite-type structure (a=16.5216(4)angstrom, b=5.5205(1)angstrom, c=5.3515(1)angstrom) has been investigated by transmission electron microscopy together with EDS analysis, by X-ray powder diffraction, chemical analysis and resistivity measurements. A partial ordering of the La and Sr atoms has been detected. This necessitates a description in spacegroup I2 cm, in contrast to Ima2 used in a previous X-ray diffraction study of a single crystal grown at a higher temperature. The solid solutions La1-xMxSrCuGaO5 with M = Sr, Ba, Na, were also investigated. It was shown that solid solutions with high formal copper valence can be prepared by the freeze drying technique followed by a low temperature reaction in oxidizing atmosphere.
