Аннотация:This paper presents experimental results derived from investigating the microstructure and dynamic deformation indices of loess soils from the area of the cities of Irkutsk (Russia) and Lanzhou (China) under a joint project. The laboratory facilities operated by the Institute of the Earth's Crust SD RAS (Irkutsk), the Sub-Faculty of Engineering Geology and Geological Environment Protection of the Geology Department of the Moscow State University, and the Lanzhou Seismological Institute of the State Seismological Bureau of China were used. Various microstructure parameters were obtained using a new method of "structural diagrams" and quantitative analysis of REM-images. For the Irkutsk loess soils, it was possible for the first time to determine the dynamic modulus of elasticity, the damping factor of deformation, and seismic subsidence; the influence of microstructure, density and moisture content on these indices is considered.
