Аннотация:The article "The conception of God in the poetry of Namdev" deals with the analysis of regious songs of a prominenet Indian saint poet. Namdev's God might correspond to the ideas of Advaita vedanta or it is a traditional God described according to puranas. Most interesting, important and new attitude to God is the idea that God is not only cosmic and distant, but close to an adept, loving, forgiving and understanding. Such God does not need a priest or a temple and could be reached through his name. Namdev's poetry is an example of new religious songs based on the principle of sponatneous, nearly unceremonious contact of an adept with God.
