Аннотация:One of the crucial problems faced by living cells is that of preventing futile ATP hydrolysis in de-energized conditions. To solve this problem there exists a complex mechanism to regulate H+-ATPase activity. When the transmembrane H+-potential difference (Δμ H+) is low, the H+-ATPase rapidly assumes its inactive state. Studies over the last several years have clarified some details of this molecular mechanism in chloroplasts, mitochondria and some bacteria.
