Аннотация:A number of adsorption and kinetic effects observed at the mercury/water interface in cesium salt solutions were analyzed in terms of electrostatic models distinguishing a region of the diffuse layer with lower dielectric constant which is inaccessible to part of the electrolyte ions. It was shown that the full set of experimental data cannot be described in terms of such models, which implies that the Cs+ ions exhibit some specific adsorption at the Hg/H2O interface.
