Аннотация:The present study attempts to derive phylogenetic
relationships in shrews from the genera Sorex,
Crocidura, Neomys and Suncus on the basis of modified
RFLP analysis of genome DNA (taxonprint)
and inter-SINE-PCR method (IS-PCR). Phylogenetic
NJ and MP analyses of taxonprint both place
Sorex and Neomys genera as a sister group to the Crocidura/
Suncus clade. These data also confirm the
monophyletic origin of “S. araneus group.” In addition
to this lineage the results of IS-PCR support
another lineage within the Palearctic genus Sorex,
which includes 42-chromosomal species of “S.
caecutiens group” together with caryotypicaly related
species of “S. minutus group,” S. minutissimus and S.
raddei. Besides, the findings of the IS-PCR study are
the close relations of N. fodiens and N. anomalus
comparatively N. Schelkovnicovi and the distinct position
of the specimens of C. gueldenstaedtii from the C.
suaveolens as well as C. sibirica specimens. Our results
demonstrate the availability of IS-PCR data for resolving
difficult phylogenetic questions arising from
discordant morphological, karyological biochemical
and mtDNA data.
