Аннотация:Sorption characteristics of electrolytic deposits of Pd on glassy carbon modified by a cross-linked poly(vinylpyridine) (PVP) film are investigated. Copper adatoms are used in order to estimate true surface areas of the resultant deposits and identify fractions of dissolved and adsorbed hydrogen on Pd at the potentials of alpha-phase. Adsorption measurements involving organic substances analogous to structural elements of the polymeric matrix are employed for elucidating interrelations between the polymeric film and Pd particles. Poly(vinylpyridine) film is found to exert an essential influence on the formation of Pd particles permitting extremely finely divided deposits to be obtained. The behavior of these particles is believed to be affected by the size effect and an adsorption interaction between the particle and the polymeric matrix.
