Аннотация:This work presents a result of numerical analysis physical characteristics of free-surface oscillations in the Sea of Azov after a strong, sustained wind blows over. The nonlinear three-dimensional sigma - coordinate model with which use spatial characteristics of the seiche oscillations, an arrangement of nodal lines and speed of the currents arising thus are studied is applied to calculation. As a result of the researches executed in the real work it is established that the maximum sizes amplitudes of the seiche in a coastal zone are comparable to the sizes of storm surge phenomena. Thus heights of free fluctuations of level in open part of the sea make 50 ‒ 89% of heights of fluctuations along the coastline. In the central part of the sea the maximum speeds of currents at the seiche oscillations exceeded for 21% of speed of the stationary currents caused by a gale. It is established that seiche make an essential contribution to variability of speeds of currents. Thus free fluctuations of level fade quicker than amplitudes of speeds of currents
