Аннотация:Data production and information flow in biology in XXI century is faster than textbooks publication. To understand as completely as possible a biological process modern scientists have to work with enormous amounts of information and materials, such as nucleotide and amino acid sequences, gene and protein functions, mutants and their phenotypes as well as literature references, produced by the rapid development of high-throughput technologies in the field. The ability to extract the knowledge from the historical sources and integrate it with new information derived from the global datasets requires a sophisticated approach to data mining and integration. In these circumstances teachers have to to teach students how to find, realize and integrate the new information by themselves. One of the promising approach to solve these problems is using of ontology. Ontological analysis has grown beyond philosophy to information technologies which nowadays have several clear applications to the biological sciences in particular. Current bio-ontologies can be used as the accessible tool for education. Ontologies constructed by students are very effective for testing their knowledge, as well as to promote student’s self-actualization. Ontologies application has been shown to improve studying general biological disciplines such as “Plant Physiology and Biochemistry” and “Plant Growth and Development”, in particular. Working with current bio-ontologies via the Internet resembles the research for students and the most prominent of them like this way of the education a lot.
