Derivatives of Group 14 Elements in non-classical valence states including tetrylenes are subjects for investigation in fundamental science and applied fields. For stabilization of these reactive species a range of ways is used, whereas application of polydentate ligands may be regarded as powerful strategy. In present report our recent results on synthesis, structure and application of tetrylenes based on polydenate ligands are presented. Catenated compounds due to σ-conjugation have interesting physical properties (luminescence, semiconductivity, electrochemistry etc.), where establishment of structure-property relationships represents an actual scientific task. The recent data on synthesis and investigation of Cr carbonyl complexes with aryl germanes are also reported.
