Аннотация: Systematic study of many thermodynamic properties of organic compounds of different classes is carried out in Luginin’s Thermochemistry Laboratory of the Moscow State University. This paper deals with reviewing and summarizing the numerous data on the saturation vapor pressure, enthalpies of vaporization, and low-temperature heat capacities of some perspective compounds from the class of branched ethers. Most attention is given to critical analysis, verification of the reliability of the thermodynamic data and some interconnection between the properties and structural parameters of the compounds.
Branched aliphatic ethers having a number of carbon atoms from 6 to 8 are of interest as octane raising additives to the motor fuel. Thermodynamic properties of the phase equilibriums of crystal → liquid and liquid → vapor were studied in Luginin’s Thermochemistry Laboratory for the set of the ethers: (i-C3H7)2O, C2H5OC(CH3)3, i-C3H7OC(CH3)3, n-C3H7OC(CH3)3, C2H5OC(CH3)2CH2CH3. i-C4H9OC(CH3)3, (i-C4H9)2O.
