Аннотация:Kinetic regularities of the nitrate anion electroreduction on dropping electrodes made of mercury, 40% thallium amalgam, and 16% indium gallam were studied. It was established that the highest rate of the nitrate anion discharge is on the indium gallam electrode. In aprotic solvents, the nitrate anion is not reduced, the discharge of the nitrate anion is observed only after adding water. It was shown that the reaction rate linearly depends on the concentration of the nitrate anion and the concentration of the ammonium cation. Based on experimental data obtained, the conclusion was made that the reaction kinetics is controlled by the slowness of the step involving the concerted transfer of electron and proton to the discharging anion.
