Аннотация:The behavior of Cu adatoms on Pd black was studied in 0.5 M H2SO4. Values of the true surface area of Pd black (S(tr)) calculated from the maximum amount of copper adsorbed are 1.5-2 times lower (S(tr) = 20 m2/g) than those estimated from hydrogen sorption at E(r) = 90 mV. The amounts of hydrogen dissolved in the alpha-phase of Pd(H) were calculated in the presence of copper adatoms as a function of potential. A correlation was found to exist between the amount of hydrogen in the alpha-phase of Pd(H) and the degree of dispersion of the paladium. The surface coverage of Pd black was found as a function of potential. The adsorption isotherm of hydrogen on Pd black is similar to a Temkin isotherm in the region of intermediate coverages.
