Аннотация:Geometrical-optical illusions are visual illusions, in which the perceived geometrical properties of the corresponding object or visual scene differ from the objective reality. Clinical studies have revealed increased vulnerability to the Müller-Lyer illusion in patients with schizophrenia. However, conditions under which abnormal visuo-spatial processing takes place in schizophrenia remains unknown.The data obtained in this study highlight an abnormal visuo-spatial processing in patients with Schizophrenia and Parkinson's disease and suggest that a low vulnerability to this illusion in psychiatric patients is
in part related to inaccuracy in line length estimation in general and that
peripheral neurodegenerative processes do not alter vulnerability to the Müller-Lyer illusion.
