Аннотация:In the presented new model CROSS-M of storm-induced deformations of a coastal profile the main mechanisms controlling sediment transport in wave shoaling and surf zones are taken into consideration. The model is capable of resolving underwater bars and their seaward displacement during the storm and shoreward move under weak and moderate waves. Wave asymmetry is described in terms of Van Rijn et al. (2011) parametrization. A calculation of an undertow takes into account contribution of rollers. The role of long-wave oscillations is estimated by Roelvink and Stive (1989) approach. A comparison between the model results and observational data reveals that the model predicts adequately the type of the coastal profile and its main characteristics for both sand and pebble beaches.
