Estimation of simulation of global circulation features and teleconnections between tropical and midlatitude circulation as simulated by the general circulation models of INM RAS and ARPEGEстатья

- Аннотация: The velocity circulation of zonal wind along the latitude circle, Lφ, and velocity circulation in the centers of action of the atmosphere, LS, are used to study the global atmospheric circulation in the atmospheric general circulation models of INM RAS and ARPEGE. The results are compared with those of reanalysis. Connections between Lφ and sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies in the equatorial Pacific are analyzed as represented by the models and reanalysis data, as well as connections between SST in the equatorial Pacific and the most stable atmospheric objects: the centers of action of the atmosphere and storm tracks. The velocity circulation LS and its anomalies in the atmospheric centers of action and cross correlations between LS and SST are computed from the reanalysis and INM RAS model data. It is shown that the proposed circulation indices Lφ and LS are convenient for testing the atmospheric general circulation models, because they allow one to significantly reduce the volume of information under study and to investigate main typical features of global atmospheric circulation. Using these indices in a detailed analysis of separate models of the atmosphere, adequacy can be estimated of simulation of the annual cycle and interannual variability of velocity circulation, along with teleconnections between the tropics and midlatitudes.
