Аннотация:Oxygen-ion-conducting orthosilicates were synthesized for the first time by a sol-gel process. Apatite-structure compounds with the general formula M(2)(II)Ln(8) (SiO4)(6)O-2 (M-II = Ca, Sr, Pb; Ln = La, Pr, Nd, Gd, Er,Yb) were prepared by reacting tetraethyl orthosilicate, Si(OEt)(4), with divalent-metal ethoxides or nitrates and rare-earth nitrates in aqueous-ethanolic solutions. The formation of oxide phases during heat treatment of xerogels obtained by a sol-gel process was studied. By sintering ground xerogels, high-strength, pore-free ceramics were prepared, which are superior to ceramics prepared through standard solid-state reactions in electrical properties and microstructure and are close in conductivity to single-crystal analogs.
