Аннотация:Water-induced recovery of the strength of adhesive epoxy polymer-aluminum joints was studied. Among the variable parameters (the composition and pH of an aqueous solution, the sign of the potential applied to the support surface and the method of its treatment, the type of the hardener, the conditions under which an oligomer solution is coated onto a support and the system hardens, etc.), temperature has the strongest effect on the rate of adhesive bond recovery in an aqueous medium. The mechanism of the process is elaborated on the basis of the data on the sorption and calorimetric studies of adhesive systems exposed to an aqueous medium. The mechanism accounts for the contribution of electrostatic forces to the interaction of the polymer and the support surfaces separated by a thin water layer.
