Аннотация:SkQ1 (10-(6-Plastoquinonyl) decyltriphenyl-phosphonium bromide) is a mitochondrially-targeted antioxidant consisting of the plastoquinone, triphenylphosphonium cation and linker. It is able to go through the mitochondrial membrane due to the transmembrane potential difference and to be anchored in the membrane with its hydrophobic part. Plastoquinone is able to act as highly efficient and rechargeable antioxidant thus preventing the development of oxidative stress [1]. So far SkQ1 psychotropic properties were not investigated. However several studies reported that some antioxidants may have an anxiolytic action (for example, anacardic acid)[2]. Therefore, we compared the psychotropic effect of SkQ1 with members of different classes of anxiolytics-diazepam (agonist of GABA-A receptors) and fluvoxamine (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor).
