Аннотация:A new method was suggested for determining isotopic equilibrium constants (beta -factors) of minerals for elements traditionally applied in isotopic geochemistry (S, O, C, etc.). The method uses experimental data on temperature (second-order Doppler) shifts in the Mossbauer spectra and on the heat capacity of minerals, The method was shown to be applicable to minerals comprising two elements, one of which had a "Mossbauer" isotope. By way of illustration, the pyrite (FeS2) beta S-34-factor was calculated: 10(3)In beta = (1.5853 +/- 0.0419)x - (6.8095 +/- 0.4279) x 10(-3)x(2) + (3.9960 +/- 0.5682) x 10(-5)x(3), x = 10(6)/T-2.
