Аннотация:This article deals with the study of ethnonyms in the language of Greek massmedia. The ethnonyms make the linguistics’ picture of the world, beingexpressed in various areas of onomastics, which are motivated, as a rule,by the most typical world’s vision of people, and thus they are a part of thelinguistics’ picture of the world (LPW). Ethnonyms participate actively in the processes of “xenonomination”, i.e. nomination through “someoneelse’s”, and thus we have xenonyms, which are words and phraseologicalunits that arise as a result of semantic derivation based on ethnonyms andtoponyms. Xenonyms play an important role in the formation of LPW,because in this way various names of objects and phenomena of the surrounding reality are metaphorically indicated. In Greek, the tendency topejorativity of ethnonyms as a component of the lexical-phraseologicalthe field is clear, since a tendency to rejection of other nations is revealed, and even neutral ethnonyms can participate in the word-formation of pejorative derivatives (compare, eg, Ελληνάρας, Αλβανίλα etc.). Ethnonymshelp to enrich the emotional vocabulary of the modern Greek language, participating in the process of word-formation. All this allows us to makeconclusions about the characteristics of ethnocultural stereotypes thatform the linguistics’ picture of the Greek world.
