Аннотация:New composite materials based on carbonized elastomers were investigated as a bipolar plate material for all-vanadium redox flow battery to substitute conventional graphite. The key material advantage is shifting from milling processing to straight forming of the final product during the synthesis. The final sintered composite demonstrated enhanced mechanical properties along with zero electrolyte permeability. Carbon fillers’ influence on electrical and mechanical properties of the composite was studied. The assembled flow battery with new bipolar plates had a resistance of 0.20 Ω/cm2, elusive permeability, suitable mechanical properties and proved suitability of the material in the current densities range of 50 – 150 mA/cm2 which meets the requirements for industrial vanadium flow batteries.
