Аннотация:The normal phase propagation over a high Tc superconducting film carrying a transport current is studied theoretically. It is shown that the values of the normal phase propagation velocity v satisfy a certain scaling law. The obtained universal formula for v takes into account the substrate effect on thermal instability development and is applicable for an arbitrary dependence of the film critical current on temperature. The scaling law allows one to put in order a number of experimental data on the normal phase propagation velocity. The results obtained may be of importance in the study of superconducting switching devices.
