Geomechanical data quality improvement for Bazhenov formation rocks via thermal core loggingтезисы доклада

- Аннотация: Collecting reliable rock geomechanical data, properly interpreting them, and incorporating them into numerical models is a necessary step for solution of different problems arising at hydrocarbon recovery. Geomechanical parameters are usually estimated from sonic logging and rare laboratory measurements, but sometimes it is impossible due to low quality of cores or acoustic signal, while spatial resolution of logging data are limited by the tool dimension (receivers array length). In this regard, a pioneer study the correlation of thermal and geomechanical properties of rocks of Bazhenov formation at a unique (on volume and quality) data set (2015-2016) opens wide possibilities for geomechanical study. Sonic logging was performed with Sonic Scanner in three wells drilled in low permeable formations in West Siberia. More than 100 m of full size cores of Bazhenov formation have been measured at core storages with nondestructive non-contact optical scanning technique. A strong correlation between components of thermal conductivity (measured perpendicular and parallel to bedding) and acoustic velocities was established. Examples of prediction Young’s and Poisson’s moduli and Young’s moduli anisotropy via thermal conductivity and thermal anisotropy were demonstrated. It was established that coupling results of sonic logging and thermal core logging improves quality of geomechanical data.
