Аннотация:Aqueous solutions of human hemoglobin have been studied by the multi-angle static light scattering method. The tendency of sickle-shaped erythrocytes to aggregate has been attributed, in particular, to their particular shape. Debye, asymmetry, and Zimm methods were used to process the experimental data. The weights of the scattering particles and molecular dimensions were estimated. The structure of the hemoglobin molecule is presumed to become elongated. The results obtained by the Zimm method are in best agreement with previous data. The large size of the scattering particles obtained by the asymmetry and Debye methods may be related to dissociation of hemoglobin, leading to a reversible dynamic process, whose equilibrium is a function of the protein concentration.
