Аннотация:The paper summarizes the crisis of tourist industry as a result of the struggle with the COVID-19 pandemic. It is noted that crisis of tourism should be considered in a context and as manifestation of the new modus of struggle for global domination, a new type of world wars between industries of the world economy, supplementing the already formed global confrontation between states. The inevitability of changes in the forms of the global struggle for dominance due to digitalization of global governance is ustified. The possibility of using crisis to study the nature of tourism and its genesis is emphasized. The approach proposed earlier by the authors to develop a scien- tific definition of tourism and to identify the factors causing its collapse is developed. The conclusion about histor- ical predetermination and irreversibility of crisis of the world tourist industry, caused by its economic nature and economic interpretation of human needs of the industrial age, and inevitability of formation of new architecture, which can be called post-tourism or tourism 2.0 as a result, is made and ustified. The prospect of research into the motivational model of tourism proposed by the authors earlier is considered briefly.
