Аннотация:The article discusses the role of international tourism and tourist companies in Eastern and Southern Africa in addressing sustainable development challenges such as hunger eradication, transition to affordable clean energy, climate change and ecosystem conservation. Facts and figures show that African companies that are developing their businesses within the framework of sustainable tourism can make a major contribution through their daily procedures to the challenges of biodiversity conservation, combating poaching and reforestation. The article investigates positive trends in business practices of African companies that operate in a globally competitive environment, such as the switch to solar energy in their tourist destinations. The main lines of action to mitigate the negative environmental and social consequences of the decline in international tourism due to the Covid-19 pandemic are highlighted
