Аннотация:This paper describes the synthesis and comparative assessment of heterogeneous catalysts for oxidative desulfurization. These catalysts were prepared as silica-gel-immobilized composites of a zwitterionic compound, namely 4-(3′-ethylimidazolium)butanesulfonate, as well as formic acid, acetic acid, and sulfuric acid. Thiophene, dibenzothiophene, and methyl phenyl sulfide were used as model substrates. The activity of the catalysts correlatedwith the strength of the precursor acids and with the amount of the active phase on the surface. In addition to the model reactions, the catalysts were tested in the desulfurization of straight-run diesel fuel to a residual sulfur content of less than 10 ppm.
