In the 1990s and early 2000s such collections were intended for thestage, art actions and theatres. In the last decade, they have become more functional;there has been no excess decoration, clothing has become more ‘international’but with ethnic elements. Apart from professional designers and craftsmen workingin this field, amateur hobby design is developing in Udmurtia in parallel.A special section deals with the use of modern variants of traditional costumein everyday life, on holiday and by folklore groups. A separate section gives themain directions in manufacturing of modern clothes in ethnic style, names andcollections of fashion designers. The second part of the article deals with moderndecoration in ethnic style based on folk and archaeological collections. A separatesection is devoted to modern accessories: covers for phones and gadgets, bags withethnic elements. The last section analyses the use of Udmurt clothing, ornamentsin social projects, souvenirs and postcards. If the traditional costume has traditionally been associated with the oldergeneration, participants in Udmurt folklore groups or entertainers, this attitudehas changed in recent years. Making modern fashion in ethnic style, as well asjewellery and accessories, has allowed us to look at folk costume differently.
