Аннотация:Our paper focuses on study of "change blindness"- a failure to notice significant changes in objects located in the visual field due to interruption of perception. The search of changes in real word (not in PC monitor) characterizes by using binocular vision and depth perception (Chen, 2006). The Virtual Reality technology using provides not only presentation to observes any visual patterns in 3D format, but control their movements in virtual space too. It improves the degree of observer’s immersion in visual scene and makes the ecology validity of the results (Voiskunsky, 2009). We investigate the role of information about the observer spatial position in his ability to perform the changes in the visual pattern of 5 or 20 objects (Mikhaylova, Gusev, Utochkin, 2010). We evaluated phenomenon of "change blindness" in terms of: a) 2D in on a PC monitor, b) 2D in VR system with tracking, c) 3D in VR system with tracking, d) 3D in VR system without tracking. The results showed significant benefit of tracking in the search time of change blindness. The advantage of 3D format presentation in compare with 2D was founded too. Above mentioned effects were influenced by the number of objects, their structure and type of changes. The results of our study allow the creation of more complex stimulus patterns in studying change blindness and to verify a wider range of hypotheses about the internal mechanisms of change detection in spatial attention tasks. This work was supported in part by M.V Lomonosov Moscow State University Program of Development. The study was conducted with the financial support of the Ministry of Education and Science RF in the project "Development of methods for mapping and transfer static and dynamic images, modeling of multimodal interfaces in immersive VR systems" (State contract ¹ 14.514.11.4035).
The results showed significant benefit of tracking and format presentation (3D on 2D) in the search time in task ''change blindness''
