Аннотация:In general, the scattered electromagnetic fields computed by the T-matrix method are valid
only outside the smallest sphere containing the whole scattering particle. This can lead to inaccurate
far-field results when an oblate particle is located close to an interface. If the interface
intersects the circumscribing sphere, the reflection from the interface is not treated correctly.
One way to improve the situation is to truncate the scattered field’s plane wave expansion at
some upper wavenumber. We compare the resulting differential scattering cross sections for a
representative numerical example to accurate reference calculations with the discrete sources
method. The benefits and limitations of the method are discussed.
