Аннотация:Сравнение скоростей распространения радиоволн в толще ледника Фритьоф и данных радиопрофилирования, полученных до и после его подвижки, показало существенные изменения толщины и гидротермической структуры ледника.
Fridtjovbreen is the surge-type polythermal glacier in Svalbard that has been studied in August 2005 using monopulse radar system VIRL-6 with central frequency 20 MHz. The studies have included measurements of radiowave velocity at two sites (on ice divide and 3 km below), and radar survey along two transverse and one longitudinal profiles. The data obtained have been com pared with previous measurements made on the glacier in 1977, 1979 and 1988, i.e., before the last glacier surge (1992-1997). Preliminary interpretation shows the essen tial changes in radiowave velocities, internal structure and ice thickness occurred in last 20-30 years which are attributed to the consequences of the surge.
