Аннотация:The Fridtjovbreen and Hansbreen tidewater glaciers have been investigated using the terrestrial radio-echo sounding technique, geodesy and mass balance measurements. All these data are used to determine general features of tidewater glacier internal structure, the pattern of bedrock, rates of recession, and mass balance structure. Geodesy survey data indicate considerable recession and thinning of the glaciers since 1936. Comparing with the previous iceberg calving flux estimation, the new ones indicate higher portion of iceberg calving in total net loss - up to 66%. To compensate iceberg outflow, the solid precipitation would need to be higher by 350 mm while the mean summer temperature would need to be lower by 1°C.
