tively and results in high yields of organomercuric compounds. It was shown that the formyloxy group in the
homobenzyl position of 4chloromercurysubstituted arylbutanes is prone to easy solvolysis and nucleophilic
substitution for bromine under the conditions of bromodemercuration.
