Аннотация:A discussion is presented of thermodynamic theory of the electrokinetic (Stern) potential arising at the interface between oxides and aqueous electrolyte solutions. For the particular case of nonelectrode glasses, the Stern and thermodynamic potential as well as the surface charge density are obtained as functions of the relative ion concentrations in the solution. The relation obtained for the electrokinetic potential is satisfactorily verified by experimental data found in the literature for electroosmosis in glass capillaries.
