Аннотация:Physicochemical properties such as thermal stability and combustion behaviors of the new CL-20 clathrates with liquid and a gaseous oxidizers, N2O4 and N2O, have been investigated. It has been shown that the vapor pressures of NO2 and N2O above the clathrate crystals are similar to the pressure above conventional crystalline hydrates. When heated, NO2 and N2O evaporate from the clathrates without disturbing the α-CL-20 crystal lattice, resulting in unchanged thermal stability. Under closed conditions, NO2 and N2O increase the rate of the autocatalytic decomposition reaction in comparison with neat CL-20. The kinetics obtained allows calculating self-accelerating decomposition temperature (SADT) under adiabatic conditions. Thermocouple measurements have revealed that reactions in the condensed phase play the leading role during combustion. It turned out that the surface temperatures during combustion of the α -conformers are lower than those of the ϵ-conformer. It has been suggested that the surface temperature can be determined by the evaporation temperature of the more volatile decomposition product rather than the boiling temperature of the initial α-CL-20.
