Аннотация:This paper describes our science curriculum for 5-9 grades that is based on the Activity Theory. The
introductory course presents each basic model as a tool to plan a human activity. Then students switch
to “Introduction to Chemistry” to explore the cycles of important elements through hands-on
experiments. This makes chemistry meaningful for 8th-graders, and many of them choose chemistry
projects during the systematic course. After that, our 9th-graders are ready to participate in real
scientific projects outside of the school.
