Why we compare Artificial Intelligence Functions and Human Intelligence Capabilities / Почему мы склонны сравнивать функции искусственного интеллекта со способностями человекастатья
Аннотация:The author describes a hypothesis that without a focus on comparing artificialintelligence and human intelligence, the scientific community could accelerate theprogress of AI-related research including solving the problem of trust in AI technologies.Anthropocentrism is shown as a limiting factor for trust in AI, and therefore the AItechnology acceptance and development. The author analysed the premises forcomparing functions of AI and human intelligence capabilities: from some theories onthe philosophy of mind and theory of communication to philological influences andpsychological tendencies. The article examines the arguments against comparingartificial intelligence functions with human intelligence capabilities: a theoreticalpossibility of substrate-free intellect, the incompleteness of human intelligence, thesufficiency of having an AI compared to other biological species for the major riskscenarios, and the fundamental shift from the anthropocentric-based platform. Also, thearticle presents examples of contemporary philosophers’ concepts that viewed AIfunctions outside the realms of human intelligence and saw progress in stepping out ofcomparing AI functions and human intelligence capabilities in the anthropocentricmodel.
